Draw your first morning
Write down the first two places you want to visit. If they are Plaza Mayor and the royal quarter, look west around Sol or Ópera. If your plan centres on a long museum visit and the park, compare Las Letras and Prado-side addresses. Gran Vía, Malasaña and Chueca are appealing alternatives for a different pattern of evenings. They are not interchangeable labels for one tiny area.
Read the street, then the room
A broad neighbourhood can hide very different stays. Look up the actual entrance, the nearest useful crossing and the street between the hotel and your first stop. Then ask about the room: street or courtyard, floor, lift access and bed arrangement. A room photograph may show a category you have not selected. A central hotel can be convenient without promising silence.
Compare the same thing
Open the exact property on both providers and check the street address before comparing costs. Select the same dates, guest count and room type. Add breakfast only if you expect to use it, and compare the full total rather than a prominent starting amount. Read the cancellation deadline in the timezone stated by the provider. A refundable option is only helpful if its deadline fits your actual plans.
Match the arrival to the address
Your arrival journey is a separate part of the decision. A hotel that is excellent for walking may still require a transfer from the airport or station. With heavy bags, children or limited mobility, a simple arrival can matter more than shaving a few minutes from a sightseeing route. Confirm the entrance with the property and ask whether a taxi can set you down directly there.
Keep a reserve of energy
Plan one substantial outing per day, then leave room for neighbourhood wandering. The best address is not necessarily the geometric midpoint of every attraction. It is the one that makes your intended days comfortable, gives you a realistic way home and offers a room whose actual details meet your needs.
